"A culture is as rich and as capable of surviving as it has imaginative artists, skilled men of science, a high ethics level, workable government, land and natural resources, in about that order of importance."
- L. Ron Hubbard
Message from the Director
As I write this looking out my studio window, I see new buds on the trees. Spring is coming, with all its new life and rejuvenation! After all, spring is all about abundance, and this is what this newsletter focuses on. This is so important for an artist. Abundance is much broader than having lots of money or possessions. If you look up the word it means “extremely plentiful or having an over-sufficient quantity or supply.” Why scrape by in life when you can flourish and prosper? How about creating an abundance of your art, beautiful promotion so that everyone knows about it and most importantly, an abundance of creativity in all spheres of your life. Mr. Hubbard says it best . . . “The greatest joy there is in life is creating. Splurge on it!”

For the first time ever, EMA Artists USA had three Model of Admin Know-How (MAKH(1)) Winners in one month!! Following are two of our winners in the Featured Artist of the Month section!
Featured Artist of the Month: Katie Dean

Please tell us a little bit about your art business.
Hi! My name is Katie Dean and I am a jeweler that specializes in dainty gold layering necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings, all handmade in America.
In general, how has the use of Mr. Hubbard's administrative technology impacted your business?
It helps me to catch things that would slip through the cracks, which is vital. Instead of waiting for things to get off track, each week I look at the vital statistics that plainly show where the business is at and then I make adjustments. Helps me keep my eye on the prize!
What piece of Mr. Hubbard's administrative wisdom have you found particularly helpful in making your business successful?
Hands down the Conditions Formulas. They keep me on the straight and narrow so I can stay focused on what I need to change, or sometimes more importantly what I should not change that will as a result keep my statistics going up.
As a successful art business owner, is there one really valuable tip that you would like our readers to take away with them?
Stay consistent with your promotion and marketing. Whenever I have veered away from consistently promoting my products, my sales have gone down. Don’t get significant, just do it and communicate!

Featured Artist of the Month: Daphna Levy Hernandez

Please tell us a little bit about your art business.
I am a writer. I write nonfiction, and my goal is to change lives.
As an FSM(2), my goal is to save beings, but as a Personal and Marriage Coach, and through my writings, my goal is to improve conditions for individuals, families, and the community, and to open the door to dissemination.
In general, how has the use of Mr. Hubbard's administrative technology impacted your business?
Mr. Hubbard's administrative technology made my business possible at all! Even before MAKH, I have been using some of the administrative technology, which is the reason I was able to build my two careers: FSMing and Coaching (including writing). But implementing all the steps of MAKH have taken me to a whole new level of application and, I am certain, future expansion!
What piece of Mr. Hubbard's administrative wisdom have you found particularly helpful in making your business successful?
Administrative Scale(3) and Conditions.
The Administrative Scales crystalize my intention and give me direction. Conditions help me do the right thing at the right time.
As a successful art business owner, is there one really valuable tip that you would like our readers to take away with them?
Be true to yourself, all the while ensuring that your art reaches the minds and hearts of your viewers, readers or listeners, as the case may be.I had gone through a lot of trial and error before I finally duplicated my public's reality and was able to communicate to them effectively. I had to undercut and undercut ... until I finally achieved duplication and agreement. I saw that my writings paralleled the reader's mind and life and therefore could help him or her. And that was my original intention.

Artist Members in Action
Richel Lavette ~ Photographer

Richel's fine art photography is currently showing at the Imagine Museum in their Fantasy Exhibition up until the end of June 2025. She's received many comments from her clients about her photography, as follows:
"Not only are the headshots Richel took at the beach just beautiful -- well-lit, artistic, alive -- Richel was fantastic to work with! She's a total professional in every respect."
"Richel from Lavette Photo Studios in Florida is an absolute gem! I cannot say enough good things about her and the amazing experience she provided for my husband and I during our recent beach photo shoot at sunset for our 10 year wedding anniversary…She made us feel comfortable, relaxed, and most importantly, she made the whole experience fun! It never once felt awkward or forced, and that's all thanks to Richel's warm and friendly personality."
You can see more of Richel's photography on her Website.
Barbara Anne Dunn

Barbara is a Chinese Brush Painting artist and a poet. She paints in the Po Mo style, which is spontaneous and seeks to capture the essence of the subject. She loves the intimate connection between Brush Painting and poetry, as the two art forms are often combined. The Chinese speak of “Painting a poem, and writing a painting,” which Barbara feels is a perfect visual art form for a poet.
Her art will be on display in the Clearwater Main Library at The Essence of Spring Exhibition. This is the Chinese Brush Painting, Colorado Iris, mounted on a traditional silk brocaded scroll. It will be hanging in the Exhibition.
