Effective Management Association Newsletter - April 2026

"Viewing and experiencing art on the basis of what one is contributing to it and what others contribute to it is a workable approach. And it would result in approved art and approved appreciation.

Such a viewpoint, interesting, also includes some things into the field of art not previously so viewed."

- L. Ron Hubbard

Message from the Director

As I write this, spring is still in full bloom, with all its new life and rejuvenation! After all, spring is all about abundance, and this is what this newsletter focuses on. Abundance is much broader than having lots of money or possessions. If you look up the word it means “extremely plentiful or having an over sufficient quantity or supply.” Why scrape by in life when you can flourish and prosper through our art? How about creating an abundance of your art, beautiful promotion so that everyone knows about it and most importantly, an abundance of creativity in all spheres of your life. That’s what our artist community is all about.

– Leisa Collins

Featured Artist of the Month: Leigh Ann Edrich aka ILIA

Leigh Ann started her gardening and creative career at three years old with plants, trees, drawings, paintings, prose and books. A decade ago while mentoring artists, building websites and marketing, she also learned graphic programs. A "what-if moment" occurred and her Dreamscapes were born!

Earlier this month Leigh Ann went to Milan, Italy, where she was presented with a Certificate of Participation in The Universal Genius Tribute to Leonardo da Vinci for her Dreamscapes.

Please tell us a little bit about your art business.

I create Dreamscapes, write books and mentor artists. In other words, I create or help another do so most all the time. Mainly in the last few years, I've been focusing on creating dreamscapes. This has been a very good action because I'm consistently surprised at what I've achieved!

In general, how has the use of Mr. Hubbard's administrative technology impacted your business.

I use Mr. Hubbard's administrative technology and the Art Book both in my business and creating. It has impacted my business in ways that I didn't imagine could happen. I was just applying the data and legitimate opportunities found me! Using the technology isn't drudgery, it's pure magic!

What piece of Mr. Hubbard's administrative wisdom have you found particularly helpful in making your business successful?

I use two pieces of Mr. Hubbard's administrative wisdom, ethics and outflow, equally. Doing so covers the one thing that artists have to do: get their works known.

In the art world there's companies that are in it to make money for themselves and there are companies that genuinely want to help an artist succeed.

Using the technology of ethics you can find those companies and using the information regarding outflow you'll be able to push yourself forward in your art career.

As a successful art business owner, is there one really valuable tip that you would like our readers to take away with them?

Refer to the administrative technology by Mr. Hubbard anytime you find that things aren't going right in your art business. Apply the references and succeed!

Artist Members in Action

Sheila Zimmermann is a Flutest, Vocalist and is the co-owner of Elegant Music

In March, Sheila hosted her Spring Recital in Los Angeles, bringing together a remarkable group of young performers. Her students, ages six to eighteen, took the stage to share music that ranged from beloved anime themes to contemporary favorites like “Rewrite the Stars” and the classic “Fascination.” The afternoon concluded with a poised and luminous performance of Clair de Lune by 18-year-old Erik Hsieh, a fitting finale that reflected both the dedication of the students and Sheila’s thoughtful, expressive approach to teaching.

Rachel Raucsh Johnson, Photographer

For Earth Day, photographer Rachel turns her lens toward the place where her artistic journey first began, the Owens River Valley, with its striking Alabama Hills and the sweeping backdrop of the Sierra Madres. It was in those rugged mountains that a teacher, Mr. Fred Carrington, first encouraged her to pick up a camera, opening the door to a deeper connection with the natural world. That early spark has stayed with her, shaping not only her photography but the way she experiences life itself, as she continues to seek beauty, meaning, and connection through her art.

Bonita Wilson, Painter

At a recent community gathering, painter Bonita took the opportunity to share her work and recent successes, bringing along three of her paintings and speaking about her experiences with EMA Artists. The pieces she presented, “Speckled Fruit,” “Colombian Prince,” and “Tuscan Sky,” reflect both her growing confidence and her commitment to continuing her artistic journey.

On the Lighter Side

This cartoon was created by EMA Artists USA member, Steve Gill, who spent 40 years traveling to shows all over the United States, selling his humorous artwork and making people laugh. Steve is the Resident Cartoonist for EMA Artists and his light-hearted works are included in each of our newsletters.

Shades of Light

Shades of Light When there is winter in our hearts speak to us in the language of flowers. Gently sow the cold hard ground with seeds born of compassion, tended in love and kindness.

Warm the earth with a haloed light of understanding. Water it with our tears. Make it rich with our gift of life. Unveil that which is the best of us. We can, you know. Let nature lead us to a garden,

to the winter garden…

in the language of flowers.

Artist Momentum Monday Meet-Up

EMA Artists has launched its Momentum Monday Meet-Ups, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Led with warmth and ease by Leisa Collins, and helped by EMA member, Janice King, these weekly gatherings offer a welcoming space where creatives can connect, share their work, and build momentum. Each session includes thoughtful insights, practical tips, and time for attendees to get to know one another. With attendance steadily growing, the meet-ups are quickly becoming a lively and encouraging hub for artists. They take place every Monday evening at 6 pm ET, and all are welcome to attend, especially with a creative friend in tow.
