"A true professional may do things pretty easily from all appearances, but he is actually taking care with each little bit that it is just right.
"The winner has it instinctively. The loser rarely even grasps the concept of 'do it right.'
"Artistic presentation always succeeds to the degree that it is done well. How easily it is done is entirely secondary."
- L. Ron Hubbard
Message from the Director
As we close out this year, I want to acknowledge the dedication and creative courage each of you took within your own field of art this year. You explored, took risks, showed up for each other—many of you pushing boundaries, asking hard questions, and trusting the process and application of L. Ron Hubbard’s brilliant technology even when it felt uncomfortable. The growth I’ve witnessed this year from EMA Artists and those who are members is real, and it’s something to be proud of.
Looking ahead, I encourage you to keep creating with intention and generosity. Continue to take risks, stay curious, and remember that your voice matters—not just in what you make, but in how you show up as artists and collaborators. Thank you for the energy, honesty, and heart you bring to this broad artist community. I’m excited for where your work—and this group—will go next.

Featured Artists of the Month: Barbara Anne Dunn and Joel Morris
In this special holiday edition of our newsletter, we are featuring two artists who dreamed and created What a Wonderful World, an uplifting and poetic art exhibition that reflects on life's everyday gifts.

Barbara Anne Dunn

Please tell us a little bit about your art business.
I am a contemporary Chinese Brush Painting artist and a published poet. Prints of my paintings are featured on my website and social media. I like to enter original paintings in local art shows, and I enjoy the camaraderie and art of fellow artists. My poetry has been available online for many years, and I sometimes feature a poem on my blog.
In general, how has the use of Mr. Hubbard's administrative technology impacted your business?
The administrative technology of setting targets and goals has been a vital tool in building my art business as have the Conditions Formulas. As an artist, my favorite and most used reference is the book, Art, by Mr. Hubbard.
What piece of Mr. Hubbard's administrative wisdom have you found particularly helpful in making your business successful?
It’s difficult to choose, but I would say the Administrative Scale has been fundamental to my success.
As a successful art business owner, is there one really valuable tip that you would like our readers to take away with them?
Get your communication lines out—way out! And help your fellow artists to succeed!
You can find Barbara at her website Barbara Anne Dunn Art as well as on Facebook and Instagram.

Joel Morris

Please tell us a little bit about your art business.
I’ve been drawing and painting for about ten years. Three years ago I decided to start selling my art and have been able to do so online, at art shows and exhibits. I take great joy in creating a smile on someone's face because of my art.
In general, how has the use of Mr. Hubbard's administrative technology impacted your business?
The Hubbard Management System has proven invaluable to me in starting and growing my art business. The principles of organization, statistics, communication, promotion, marketing and public relations are each critical to business success. I continually learn more about each and expand my application of them. If a problem arises in my business I look to Hubbard Management System to provide answers on how to move forward.
What piece of Mr. Hubbard's administrative wisdom have you found particularly helpful in making your business successful?
I have had great success with his materials on Targets and Goals. For example, a few months ago a fellow artist and I were offered the opportunity to put on a large art exhibit here in Clearwater. I immediately wrote a program with detailed targets that would need to be done to put the exhibit together in a professional manner. By using the program and refining the targets in it, we were able to create a successful exhibit that the attendees very much enjoyed.
As a successful art business owner, is there one really valuable tip that you would like our readers to take away with them?
Keep learning and applying what you learn! The Hubbard Management System is simple, but it is very broad and there is great depth and the means to use it. The more you understand it the better your business and life will be.
