"If you look at or listen to any work of art, there is only one thing the casual audience responds to en masse, and if this has it then you too will see it as a work of art. If it doesn't have it, you won't.
So what is it?
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE ITSELF ADEQUATE TO PRODUCE AN EMOTIONAL IMPACT.
And that is how good a work of art has to be to be good."
- L. Ron Hubbard

Featured Artist of the Month: Daphna Levy
Daphna Levy is a bestelling author and relationship expert who has been helping people create more rewarding relationships since the 1980s. Her style is unique as her approach is both blunt and compassionate. She holds no punches but tells her readers what she believes they must know; yet her love of people and her insight shine through unmistakably.

Please tell us a little bit about your art business.
I am a writer. And since I'm in the business of helping people, both as a Field Staff Member(1) and as a marriage and life coach - which is my basic purpose, really - I like to write advice books.
I put my advice in a very assimilatable form. Readers say that I write like I talk. So I "speak" to my readers and give them common-sense advice they can apply to their lives to solve their issues and improve their condition. I lace it with real-life stories from situations I have seen and handled in my offices. That's where more of a creative or fictional writing comes in, even though the stories are real.
In general, how has the use of Mr. Hubbard's administrative technology impacted your business?
Tremendously! I can think in futures and I can plan. My path is paved and guided by my Admin Scales(2) and all the tools of management that are a part of the Model of Admin Know-How. Even when I choose to put my writing on the back burner because I am handling viability or doing research and study to ensure I am on the right path, I don't lose sight of my goals as an artist. To me, my Field Staff Memeber and coaching work are also an art form. If you were a fly on the wall and heard the creativity I have to employ to reach another soul or to get around false data and non-survival computations, you'd know what I mean. And then, that experience fuels my writing.
What piece of Mr. Hubbard's administrative wisdom have you found particularly helpful in making your business successful?
Admin Scales and writing programs.
As a successful art business owner, is there one really valuable tip that you would like our readers to take away with them?
Plan from above. I used to make the mistake of dropping down to the "to-do list" level and staying there. I wouldn't come up for air to view, revive revitalize my broader goals. Once I started doing so (thanks to my participation with EMA Artists!) I became more cause, I came uptone on the job, and life became more of a game again.

Artist Members in Action
Debbie Arambula, Visual Artist

For more than three decades as a full-time professional artist, Debbie has infused her signature hearts and florals with love, joy, and soulful energy, creating vibrant works that celebrate the beauty of being alive.
In an unforgettable three-day stretch, more than 49 pieces found new homes.
Among the many meaningful encounters was a delightful couple from Maine whom she met at the Dunedin Farmers Market. The connection continued at her home studio, where they fell in love with multiple originals and selected their first piece to bring home.

Rachel Rausch, Photographer

Rachel proudly presented the Gallery Exhibit celebration for The 40 Over 40 Portraits: Chapter Two, Class of 2024 at the Mercer Island Community Center, an evening dedicated to honoring the strength, wisdom, and vibrancy of women over 40.
The event exceeded expectations in every way. Guests gathered over lite bites and bubbly and were deeply moved by a poetry reading from an award-winning poet who was herself one of the portrait participants.
Beyond the artwork, the true magic was in the connections formed. Women discovered unexpected common ground, and in some cases, even realized they lived just steps from one another. With the help of generous raffle sponsors, funds were also raised for The Earth Organization, extending the evening’s impact beyond the gallery walls.
You can find Rachel Rausch at Rachel Rausch Photography.
Roger Harrison, Jazz Player and Director

Roger Harrison’s musical journey began at just nine years old, grounded in classical and religious traditions. Over time, that foundation blossomed into a deep and abiding love for jazz, where he discovered the freedom to innovate, improvise, and form meaningful connections with his audience.
Since founding The Harrison Jazz Ensemble in 2008, Roger has created unforgettable performances defined by sophistication, creativity, and a signature musical excellence that feels both refined and deeply personal.
At the end of January 2026, Roger performed at the Imagine Museum to an enthralled audience. It was an extraordinary evening where jazz and visual art met in perfect harmony, his inspiring music filling the museum’s stunning spaces and creating a night that guests will not soon forget.

Poets Corner
LAUGH
It was a good laugh
because of my gaffe
first it was a jiggle
that made me giggle
with great clarity
I saw the hilarity
with eyes lit like glitter
I didn't restrain my titter
for what it was worth
I couldn't contain my mirth
Jellied knees buckling
I continued chuckling
down on the floor
I laughed some more
my plan was to beguile
to get you to smile
looks like I got my way
bringing cheer to your day

This month's quote from L. Ron Hubbard is from page pages 18 and 19 of the Art book.
1) Field Staff Member: One who assists people in their religious and spiritual pursuits. They are called "field" staff members because they do not work for the religious organization, but work in the public sector.
2) Admin Scale: The framework developed by Mr. Hubbard for managing life and work.
