Effective Management Association Newsletter - July 2025

"If anybody is starved for anything in this MEST* universe, it's beauty. You can take the toughest, roughest boxer, the meanest, orneriest clown, the most debased thief and beauty registers on him, one way or the other. But it's very odd that when a person is very disgraced and very degraded, the one thing which instantly puts him to just sweeping shame and just sweeps him back down the sewer in a hurry, is to be confronted suddenly with something beautiful. So there's a great deal to aesthetics which we mustn't neglect."

- L. Ron Hubbard

Please tell us a little bit about your art business.

My works as a playwright has not only taken off but has also skyrocketed by utilizing the Hubbard Management System.

In the past two years, my play Speed Dating has now been performed in over sixty theaters throughout the U.S., Canada, and England and is soon to be performed in South Africa. The play is a theater phenomenon, garnering numerous awards.

In 2024, my play, 1968, was awarded by best play by the William Faulkner Literary Competition.

Another one of my plays, Landscaping, made the finals of the Latino X play competition in 2024. This play will be performed at the Kingdom Theater in 2026, where I was just honored as the Visiting Playwright for 2026. I have also been invited to be on the Board of Directors for the Kingdom Theater.

In general, how has the use of Mr. Hubbard's administrative technology impacted your business?

Tracking statistics and applying conditions keeps me on the track to success. I track my writing output and my outflow, which is number of plays sent to theaters.

The conditions formulas are blueprints for expansion. It is precision at its finest. I never don’t know what to do. Hubbard Management gives me that power and control.

What piece of Mr. Hubbard's administrative wisdom have you found particularly helpful in making your business successful?

I spend every day working to make my writing so good that it can’t be ignored. Buttressing this daily ritual are the fundamentals found in Mr. Hubbard's book ART.

I incorporate all the principles that he laid out, fundamentals like professionalism, communication, and composition-how one goes about constructing a story, a picture. Besides infusing myself in the fundamentals of my craft, I am constantly applying the principles of art as articulated by L. Ron Hubbard.

I believe art should serve to heal, inspire, provoke, challenge and to offer hope – but most of all to connect, to remind us of our common humanity.

As a successful art business owner, is there one really valuable tip that you would like our readers to take away with them?

The action I do consistently is OUTFLOW! As Mr. Hubbard says, “Outflow is holier, more moral, more remunerative and more effective than inflow.”

If I’m not connecting with theaters, if I’m not getting productions, if things look hopeless, I outflow. If that doesn’t make thing happen, I outflow more, if that doesn’t work, I outflow even more.

It’s magical!

Misha Crews - Author

ree

Bestselling author Misha Crews has been invited to contribute to this year’s highly anticipated entry in the Destination Murder anthology series. The fifth installment, Murder in the Graveyard, offers a collection of cozy mystery short stories filled with light chills, clever thrills, and a few restless spirits who just might have unfinished business.

In Misha's twisty mystery "I Thought You Were the Dead Man," a man wakes up in a cemetery with no memory, a pounding headache, and an eccentric old woman calling him “Red.” Before he can figure out who he is, he’s swept into a murder investigation involving a corpse in a cocktail dress, a skeptical but attractive lady cop, and an improvised picnic on the hood of a police cruiser. Blending noir grit with cozy comedy, this entertaining tale proves that sometimes the fastest way to find yourself is by tripping over someone else’s secrets.

Murder in the Graveyard will be released on October 7, 2025 and is available for preorder on Amazon Kindle. You can find out more about Misha on her website, MishaCrews.com

Janice King - Artist

ree

Janice King recently showcased her work alongside fellow artists at Wilma’s during the Artloop “Rays” Group Art Exhibit. Among the highlights was her striking portrait of Langston Hughes, a powerful example of her expressive, wearable art and visual storytelling.

At the age of sixty, Janice experienced a profound personal awakening that unleashed her creative spirit. A life-altering event sparked her “aha” moment, and she emerged as a bold, self-taught visual artist, fearlessly exploring color, form, and emotion through her unique pieces.

In Janice’s words: “Reconnect with your creative side—whatever it is. It does not matter how long it takes. What matters is that you do it as if your life depends on it.”

Her work is not only art, it’s a celebration of resilience and the power of personal transformation.
