"The greatest joy there is in life is creating.
"Splurge on it!"
- L. Ron Hubbard
Message from the Director
As I write this looking out my studio window, I see new buds on the trees. Spring is coming, with all its new life and rejuvenation! After all, spring is all about abundance, and this is what this newsletter focuses on. This is so important for an artist. Abundance is much broader than having lots of money or possessions. If you look up the word it means “extremely plentiful or having an oversufficient quantity or supply.” Why scrape by in life when you can flourish and prosper? How about creating an abundance of your art, beautiful promotion so that everyone knows about it and most importantly, an abundance of creativity in all spheres of your life. Mr. Hubbard says it best . . . “The greatest joy there is in life is creating. Splurge on it!”

Featured Artist of the Month: Katie Dean
Katie Dean is the founder and owner of Katie Dean Jewelry. Katie creates handmade, dainty jewels to inspire women to try something new, embrace their femininity, and feel beautiful while still feeling like themselves.
Katie recently recertified for the Model of Admin Know-How (MAKH) program. Here's what she had to say:
Since becoming a Model of Admin Know How winner in 2022, I’ve had a lot of really big life changes. In particular, I had a beautiful baby girl! Motherhood is incredible but as a stay-at-home mom I was finding it very hard to juggle being a mom along with running my business, running our household, volunteering, etc.!
In the early days of motherhood, I definitely had moments where I thought, “Should I keep this business going?” Doing the steps of my MAKH have helped me simplify and confront not only what I can do in my business in my limited work hours but what the priorities are that I have to get done. It has also helped me to think smarter, not harder when it comes to my business and be much more efficient. Don’t get me wrong, having a "balanced" day is still something I am working on, but I am feeling much better about it and my business is still here!
Very thankful for the encouragement that I received from the EMA Artist team and Mr. Quentin Strub in getting this done.
And thank you to L. Ron Hubbard for creating this technology. It is priceless!!
You can find Katie online at Katie Dean Jewelry, Facebook, and Instagram.
Artists in Action
Rachel Rausch-Johnson
Rachel recently unveiled an exhibit featuring the months-long project "The 40 over 40 Portrait Experience." Rachel created a series celebrating the strength, wisdom and beauty of women in their 40s, 50s and 60s+! This showcase embraces the diversity of mature women from a variety of shapes, sizes, lifestyles and backgrounds.
The exhibit was held at the Ryan James Fine Arts Gallery. Rachel says:
"There was joy and tears, and a kinship revealed that they didn't know existed. One woman, who had just read all the stories. And with tears in her eyes, 'All these women are ME. I am not alone. And seeing this exhibit gave me hope. I can go on.' She had lost her husband and suffered a trumatic head injury within a short span of time. Another guest bonded with one of the other ladies because of similar life experiences.
"So many more stories. So much strength, wisdom and beauty in one small space. For four hours, they came together to celebrate each other. It was AWESOME!"
Misha Crews
Misha's romantic suspense novel, To Keep Her Safe, hit the bestseller lists in January.
#1 Action & Adventure Romance Fiction
#1 Noir Crime Fiction
#1 Action Thriller Fiction
Misha said, "It was honestly one of the most thrilling and humbling moments I've experienced as an author. Not only was it amazing to see the bestseller numbers, but hearing those magic words from readers, 'I couldn't put it down!' was the icing on the cake. And I owe most of this to what I've learned as a member of EMA Artists, which has become a vital part of my life as an artist and a businessperson."
